Our Story

1969

In March of 1969 four families saw the need for a new Assemblies of God church in Springdale and began to pray. After much prayer and seeking direction, Faith Assembly of God was established.

Temporary organizational meetings were held in an office complex on Watson Street. Space was cramped and Sunday School space was lacking. God opened a door, and the church was able to rent a church sanctuary from the 7th Day Adventists.

The church elected Paul K Whitten to be the pastor. The first official service was Easter Sunday, April 6, 1969. Attendance grew each week, and the need for a permanent location began to grow larger. A 10-acre plot of land was purchased, and the church began having services in the old, large home that was on the land. With the help of a Home Missions Grant and loan of a mobile church from the Arkansas Assemblies of God District, Faith Assembly had space for larger gatherings and classrooms for Sunday School.

1970's

In July 1970, Lindell and Darlene Ballenger served as pastors of Faith Assembly. The next few years would be marked by growth and building programs. In July of 1972 the church moved into its first permanent building. In 1975, the church broke ground and planned the design for the church as it's known today but would not move into the building for several more years.

1980's

In the early 80’s, Larry Moore served as pastor. It was in this time that the church moved services into the current facilities.

1990's - 2000's

In the mid 90’s, Billy and Carolyn Burks served as pastors of Faith Assembly and served for the next 15 years.

2011 - Present

Tim and Melissa O’Brien served as pastors from 2011 to 2023.

In August of 2023, the church elected James and Rebecca Reine to be lead pastors.
“We stand on the shoulders of so many great men and women who led this church, attended this church, gave of their time and resources to this church, prayed fervently for God to move at this church to make sure that Faith Assembly makes a difference in Northwest Arkansas.”

- James Reine
